Dream Island [fashion illustration/exhibition] – 02/2018

Last summer, after returning from Camiño/a, I was commissioned by Roberto Verino to make some illustrations for the spring/summer collection 2018 dedicated to Lanzarote and  probably its most famous artist César Manrique

I travelled to Lanzarote in late september and was enchanted by its rough beauty and Manrique´s spirit which is present all over the island in extraordinary arquitecture  which preserves the environment and emphasises the natural characteristics of the place.

I´m  especially grateful for the local Urban Sketchers group whose members received me with open arms and helped with the first orientation from a sketcher´s point of view besides joining me with their sketchbooks whenever possible.

All illustrations made on the island are currently exhibited at Roberto Verino/Ourense and some of them will be printed on garments from  the collection  Dream Island  available in stores in march 2018

update: already available 😀

Camiño/a + Compostela Ilustrada [book project/exhibition/illustration symposium] 06 + 11/2017

In early summer four female illustrators set out to sketch the Way of St James, more exactly the Portuguese coastal route which had been officially recognised earlier in 2017.

Teresa Ruivo and Fernanda Lamelas captured the impressions between Porto and Caminha the last week of may. Blanca Escrigas and me took over on may 30th and started with our guide Paula Cabaleiro in A Guarda. For one week we sketched from morning till late at night and I brought back with me 2 large sketchbooks full of impressions of our journey.

On basis of those sketches drawn on location all uf us made a series of illustrations for a book. They were also shown in a group show at Galería Sargadelos/Santiago de Compostela in October and November.

In mid-November sketcher and illustrator from all over Portugal and Spain came together for Compostela Ilustrada II, the second international illustration symposium organized, as well as the sketching trip and the exhibition, by the publishing house El Patito Editorial. Blanca and I gave a lecture on our experience of the sketching trip and like the other invited illustrators I offered a Workshop.

Moteces [illustration] – 05/2017

The council of education of Ourense commissioned me a series of illustration for the participating groups in the anual academic drama festival MOTECES 2017.

The creation of these illustration was a trip down memory lane and my days at Hamburg University as I reread Goethe´s Faust II for the thirtieth time or so and used the scenes which most sparked my imagination as basis for the illustration work.

1st place in Noia 2017 [speed painting contest] – 04/2017

Summer weather in april – best conditions for a day out painting plein air in company of more than 80 painters from all over Spain.  Noia has much to offer both for urban and landscape artists.

Lately I´m much attracted to the green of the countryside which converts into blues and browns on my palette. Oh, and the final joy to take the first prize home with me!
